The 2002 Routes<.> event is officially launched last Friday. This year`s event entitled Meeting The Challenge encapsulates the difficult business environment faced by the whole aviation industry in the wake of September 11th. This year more than ever, Routes will provide the ideal platform for airlines and airports to gain valuable insights into how others are dealing with the current difficulties and starting to plan for recovery.

Despite the industry`s environment, the organisers are expecting a record number of delegates to converge on the spectacular Astir Palace Resort near Athens this September. The preliminary sponsorship list already shows unprecedented industry support for Routes and includes prestigious companies such as Embraer, AvGroup, Dallas FortWorth International Airport, Pacific Asia Travel Association, Sabre, The World Internet Group Ltd, PATA (Pacific Asia Travel Association) to name but a few.

Mike Berman, Chief Operating Officer said: This is a crucial year. Airlines need to join forces with airports to consolidate their current network and plan future strategies. Airports must stay visible and Routes offers a unique opportunity to discuss business in both a formal and informal manner.

This year`s Routes will be held in Athens, Greece on September 22-24th and will be hosted by Athens International Airport, Europe`s newest gateway. Now in its 8th year, Routes has rapidly developed into a major trade event with 800 delegates expected this year.
