South Seas Island Resort announces Catrina Vargas, as the Premier Recreation Award recipient by RCRA

The Premier Recreation Operation Award recognizes recreation operations and departments that have displayed outstanding leadership in the development and promotion of quality recreation programs and services.

CAPTIVA ISLAND, FLA. – South Seas Island Resort, on enchanting Captiva Island, announces its Director of Guest Experience, Catrina Vargas, as the Premier Recreation Operation Award recipient for 300-799 room resorts by the Resort and Commercial Recreation Association (RCRA) during the Andy Holdnak Award Gala at the association’s most recent national conference.

The Premier Recreation Operation Award recognizes recreation operations and departments that have displayed outstanding leadership in the development and promotion of quality recreation programs and services.

As a world-class resort for 48 years, South Seas Island Resort offers multiple diversions year-round for guest enjoyment. The activity offerings include educational, entertaining, competitive and social fun offerings that make memories by “putting a little play in the guest’s stay.” Vargas leads eight full time associates and ten seasonal associates to support the resort’s offerings of family, nature, fitness and watersports activities while working closely with golf, tennis and spa teams.

“We are committed to making our guests feel like there is always something new to discovery and fun to be had among our beautiful island,” says Vargas, director of guest experience. “I am honored to be recognized among my peers nationwide in the industry and proud to lead the activities at South Seas Resort.”

The RCRA is committed to providing and promoting professional development, creative resources and networking for professionals, students, educators and vendors with its primary goal to encourage collaboration and networking among the membership through an annual, national conference, regional workshops, newsletters, a resourceful and informative website, and through other creative initiatives.

Seemingly adrift in the Gulf of Mexico, the 330-acre South Seas Island Resort is nestled among mangroves with more than half of the key lime plantation-style resort a dedicated wildlife preserve and estuary. World-renowned sailing and fishing and discovering storied barrier islands are among the unforgettable experiences of a South Seas guest.
