The Taipei CUTE (Common Use Terminal Equipment) Airline Club at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is investing $18 million in IT over seven years as it migrates to SITA’s AirportConnect CUTE platform for departure control, passenger boarding and resource management.

Jimmy Hu, Taipei CUTE CLUB Chairman, said, “This partnership with SITA will ensure that we can continue to meet the needs of the airlines and the 22 million passengers using the airport. AirportConnect CUTE will also reduce our costs significantly as air traffic at Taipei continues to grow steadily. The AirportConnect CUTE platform allows maximum use of shared infrastructure while providing airlines with access to their own systems on an industry open platform. Each CUTE workstation will use a pre-integrated browser and will be connected over IP to support individual airline needs.”

Taipei is the first airport in North Asia to adopt AirportConnect CUTE which enables airlines and handling agents to access their own systems from workstations and printers shared by all users. It will also allow them to align with IATA’s requirements such as the 2D bar code and RFID-enabled printers.

Russ Lewis, SITA’s regional Vice President for Airports, said, “SITA’s AirportConnect CUTE will allow the Taipei CUTE CLUB to provide a straightforward solution to the facilitation of a common-use environment at this major gateway. It allows for optimum use of existing check-in counter and gate resources and improves airline profitability by reducing costs.”
