The all-inclusive property’s newest natural-light drenched accommodations offer spacious and elegant dwellings perched in a tree canopy.

WHITE LAKE, NEW YORK – The Chatwal Lodge, part of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, the idyllic all-inclusive resort nestled over 100 secluded acres along the Toronto Reservoir announces the opening of three state-of-the-art Treehouses, offering guests a private and elevated escape immersed in nature.

Located on the grounds of the historic Chapin Estate, a former 18,000-acre wildlife reserve that has played host to more than a century of stories, The Chatwal Lodge has quickly become a premier destination for those seeking a peaceful and elevated escape within Upstate New York’s Catskills region since opening in spring of 2022. Like all guests at The Chatwal Lodge, those staying in the Treehouses can look forward to thoughtfully sourced farm-to-table cuisine enjoyed either in the Lodge’s restaurant or via room service; myriad activities across all seasons ranging from fly fishing, forest bathing and snowshoeing, to shuffleboard and duckpin bowling in the property’s cozy recreation center; along with other personalized surprise and delight moments waiting to be discovered.

“The expansion of our accommodations at The Chatwal Lodge to include the newly built Treehouses delivers on our commitment to always putting the guest experience first,” said Aaron Alexandar, general manager at The Chatwal Lodge. “These distinctive, secluded accommodations bring a new standard of immersive luxury to guests, marking a new beginning for our property while still honoring the fascinating history of The Chapin Estate.”

The three Treehouses are a groundbreaking addition to the Lodge’s 11 existing suites and cottages, seamlessly integrating modern architecture and design into the surrounding mosaic of oak and maple trees. The elegant structures hover 15 feet above the ground with oversized windows that allow for maximum natural light and awe-inspiring views of the natural landscape.

Designed for comfort and flexibility by Hyatt’s Design Services Team, each Treehouse accommodates up to four guests with a king-sized bedroom on the main level, a loft with a queen murphy bed, a living room with a wet bar, and a covered balcony and exterior deck with a gas fire pit.

“The inspiration behind The Chatwal Lodge’s Treehouses stemmed from taking the humble idea of a treehouse, which effectively is a ’room perched in tree canopy,’ but elevating to the realm of luxury,” said Robert Mallia, head of architecture & construction, Dream Hotels at Hyatt. “In keeping with the rest of the unique accommodations at the property, the calming design of these Treehouses cultivates an effortless escape that is enveloped by nature.”

The Treehouses are furnished with an array of custom furnishings and distinctive “found pieces” – from petrified wood and mango root tables to live-edge teak wood slabs – giving each space an elevated, yet eclectic feel. While the architectural design across the three units is uniform, each expresses a slightly different identity through artwork and interior décor.

Evocative and warm details run throughout each space, with touches like heated bathroom floors and oversized showers with panoramic views overlooking the canopy and nearby reservoir. Additionally, well-appointed amenities and a combination of global and locally sourced materials are seamlessly integrated into each units’ every detail, including premium Italian Zucchetti plumbing fixtures; cherry wood vanities; Taj-Mahal marble tops; Pennsylvania Fieldstone floorings; Nespresso coffee machine and fully stocked minibar; fully automated Lutron myRoom controlled lighting and automated master bedroom window shades; Malin & Goetz bath products; and more.

Following the debut of the Treehouses, a forthcoming pool and spa concept is slated to debut in 2024.
