JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – The African Business Travel Association (ABTA) announced that it expects its annual African Business Travel Conference to sell out, based on current delegate attendance figures. This inaugural ABTA Conference, entitled “Education-Strategy-Power” will take place in Pretoria, South Africa from 2 to 4 November 2014.

Says Monique Swart, ABTA Founder “With 5 weeks to go to the Conference, we already have over 70 delegates in attendance from across Africa. 34% of those attending are Travel Buyers, and we have delegations from Angola, Ghana, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa and the UK.  One of our key goals for this Conference was to ensure representation from across Africa, and based on current numbers, we are certainly achieving this!”

With improved management of business travel programs in Africa being a key focus for many corporations within the region and across the Globe, this event will give delegates vital insights into key trends, challenges, opportunities and best practices when sending travellers into Africa. Education sessions will include presentations, discussions and debates focusing on Hotel and Air industry updates, Travel data and technology, Centralised versus decentralised travel partners and policies, Traveller safety and duty of care, African country educationals, Service delivery and skills development, and Payment trends and solutions.

This event will also see the release of the long-awaited industry research paper “Neema: Understanding Business Travel in Sub-Saharan Africa”.

Says Swart “The beauty of this event is that it will be relevant to all industry professionals with an interest in business travel on the African continent. Whether based in Africa or abroad, this Conference will help delegates become more educated about business travel in Africa, allowing them to develop more strategic travel management practices and partnerships, and giving them the power that only this first-hand knowledge can bring.”
