The Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (ACTA) announced that it has signed up the following national and international air carriers to the ACTA ID Card program. Aeroflot Russian Airlines, Air Algerie, Air India, Air North, Yukon Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Bearskin Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, Cubana Airlines, Egypt Air, Etihad Airways, LanArgentina, LanChile, LanEcuador, LanPeru, LOT Polish Airlines, Mexicana Airlines, Pacific Wings, Porter Airlines, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Singapore Airlines and TAM Brazilian Airlines This is in addition to our current carriers, which include Air Canada, Air Transat and WestJet. Therefore these airlines have agreed to recognize the ACTA ID Card as an accepted and verified form of identification allowing the travel professional access to any industry concessions the airlines extend.

ACTA has also added other supplier partners including: Busabout and Radical Travel, China National Tourist Offices, Costa Cruise Lines, Daytona Beach Area CVB, Holland America Cruise Lines, Choice Hotels Canada Inc., Contiki Holidays, Insight Vacations, Jade Tours, Keith Prowse Canada Ltd., Royal Scenic, and WestWorld Tours by CAA.

The response received from the supplier community has been very positive. Doug Patterson, President of Insight Vacations stated: “Insight Vacations is pleased to recognize the new ACTA ID Card. With the stringent requirements to qualify for this card, we know that Travel Professionals carrying the ACTA ID Card are the major sellers of travel products including coach tours. This is definitely the type of travel agents we want to support.”

Shelley Dutton, National Sales Manager for Choice Hotels Canada Inc. stated, “The abuse of travel industry privileges by non-travel professionals is a major concern for our hotel partners – the veri-check feature on the ACTA ID Card will allow all front desk staff to instantly verify that a card is valid and this will definitely help contain this on-going issue. Thank you ACTA.”

“Our commitment to this program is evident and is demonstrated through the addition of numerous airlines as well as other supplier partners,” commented Heather Craig-Peddie, Coordinator, ACTA ID Card Program. “Over the coming months, we will continue to update our list of benefits on a regular basis. These are posted on the ACTA website, so you should check it often!”
