AHLA, Foundation expand talent with two new roles

New VP of Media Relations named; Foundation adds VP of Advancement.

WASHINGTON – The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and the American Hotel & Lodging Foundation announced two newly created roles to address a growing focus on research and visibility and diversity advancement within the industry, respectively.

Curt Cashour joins the AHLA’s communications team as Vice President of Media Relations & Enterprise Initiatives. In this new role, Curt will lead the media team to advance the hotel industry’s narrative at a critical time when recovery for the travel sector remains years away, despite the return of leisure travel. He will oversee the continued growth of AHLA’s research capabilities, which remains an ongoing Association priority. An Iraq war veteran and recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Action Badge, Curt comes to AHLA after serving as deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

“Now more than ever, AHLA strives to be the voice of the entire hotel industry. With the addition of Curt to our communications team, we’ll be able to continue to support our more than 27,000 members as we uplift their stories to advance our recovery,” said Rosanna Maietta, EVP of communications and PR and president & CEO of the AHLA Foundation.

The AHLA Foundation is pleased to welcome Jennifer Clark Fugolo, who joins the team as Vice President of Advancement. Jenn will spearhead the Foundation’s diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) efforts and coordinate with our partners and industry Task Force to carry out the Foundation’s 5-year, $5-million dollar commitment and action plan to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in the hotel industry. Additionally, Jenn will lead the Foundation’s Empowering Youth Program, which recruits Opportunity Youth for entry-level hotel positions, and with the help of local community-based organizations (CBOs), nurtures and develops them with the training, tools and support that will lead to permanent careers in hospitality. Jenn joins the Foundation with over a decade of experience straddling the corporate and non-profit worlds.

“Jenn’s vast experience will be critical as we continue to advance the industry’s diversity, equity and inclusion efforts,” said Maietta. “Under her leadership, we look forward to launching new programs and resources that will build on the industry's long-standing commitment of fostering DE&I to ensure that our employees – from entry- level to C-suite – are as diverse as the guests they serve.”
