Amusement industry travels to Shanghai for IAAPA Asian Expo 2006

IAAPA Asian Expo 2006 -the amusement industry`s largest gathering in Asia-will be held in Shanghai

IAAPA Asian Expo 2006 -the amusement industry`s largest gathering in Asia-will be held in Shanghai, the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) announced today.

We are pleased to have selected China`s largest city, Shanghai, as the destination for the 2006 IAAPA Asian Expo, said J. Clark Robinson, IAAPA president and CEO. Taking the show to a different locale next year will encourage new interest and growth in exhibitors and attendees.

Amusement industry officials chose Shanghai for IAAPA Asian Expo 2006 because of its thriving metropolis and rich cultural resources. Shanghai is China`s most comprehensive industrial and commercial city, ranking number one in population.

IAAPA Asian Expo 2006 will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, July 12-14, 2006. The most recent IAAPA Asian Expo, in July 2005, was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre and attracted more than 2,500 attendees and 140 exhibiting companies from 57 countries. Planned future locations include Bangkok in 2007, Osaka, the Gold Coast, Hong Kong and Singapore.

In addition to the popular trade show portion of the gathering, the IAAPA Asian Expo also offers world-class educational sessions and tours to amusement facilities. Attendees enjoy the opportunity to network with amusement industry professionals from around the world.

Asia is a key market for the amusement industry. Four out of the ten most visited parks in the world are in Asia, attracting more than 43 million visitors in 2004. Analysis firm Pricewaterhouse Coopers, LLP predicts the Asian amusement industry will grow at the fastest average annual rate of any region in the world-6.3 percent-for total revenues of $7.6 billion by 2008. Mainland China will lead that growth.
