The American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA<.>) and the National Academy Foundation (NAF) have come together to raise awareness about travel industry career opportunities among secondary school students.

The travel industry is an exciting and rewarding field to work in, said ASTA President and CEO Richard M. Copland, CTC. ASTA is pleased to work with the National Academy Foundation on this important endeavor. We continually strive to give the most up-to-date training to new and prospective travel agents, as well as veteran agents, to help them succeed in this ever-changing industry.

There are significant career paths within the travel industry for young people, said John J. Ferrandino, president of NAF. Through our partnership with ASTA, thousands more young people will gain first-hand exposure to opportunities in travel and tourism as they make important decisions about their futures.

Through their partnership, ASTA and NAF will encourage networking opportunities and ASTA member involvement among the NAF community. NAF will work with ASTA to raise awareness about travel industry employment opportunities and will help identify employment and internship candidates. As a way to support educational outreach, NAF also will promote ASTA’s educational initiatives and programs to administrators, teachers and businesses.
