Kathryn W. Sudeikis, CTC, ASTA’s President and CEO, received the Lifetime Achievement award at the third annual Travel Weekly’s Readers Choice Awards on Dec. 15, 2005. These awards are given to individuals who have not only enjoyed extraordinary success in their chosen field, but whose impact on the industry as a whole has risen to a level of profound significance.

“Kathy took office at a time when there were questions in consumer’s minds about the relevance of travel agents and questions in the industry’s mind about the relevance of ASTA,” said Arnie Weissmann, Editor-in-Chief of Travel Weekly. “As a spokesperson and representative of travel agents, Kathy has shown she is without peer. And she has also shown a remarkable degree of political and organizational skill, rallying her association behind a radical reorganization plan. She has, in short, done a tremendous amount in a short period of time to enhance the credibility of both her profession and her professional organization.”

“ASTA was extremely proud to learn that Kathy Sudeikis had been given Travel Weekly’s Lifetime Achievement Award,” said ASTA Executive Vice President and COO Bill Maloney, CTC. “Her commitment to ASTA personifies why the Society is the leading advocate for travel agents, the travel industry and the traveling public.”

Kathryn W. Sudeikis, CTC, is the vice president of corporate relations for All About Travel in Mission, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City, Missouri, and was inducted as ASTA’s National President and CEO on Oct. 1, 2004. Sudeikis is frequently quoted in national publications, including the Kansas City newspapers, The Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and USA TODAY. She has appeared on numerous national television programs including FOX News, “The News Hour with Jim Lehrer,” “The Today Show” and “CBS This Morning.” She has also appeared on several radio programs, including National Public Radio, Radio Free Europe and the Armed Forces Radio Network.

Travel Weekly’s Readers Choice Awards recognize 45 winners in hospitality, cruise and airline tour operators both within the United States and internationally.
