The Canadian Alliance of Business Travel`s Education Exchange Day, being held today in Toronto, is the most well-attended to date in the organization`s series of one-day conferences on corporate travel management and purchasing. More than 50 attendees representing over 35 businesses from Canada and the United States have gathered to learn more about optimizing their companies` travel value and minimizing traveler risk.

The growing attendance at Canadian Alliance Education Exchange Days shows the demand among companies operating in the Canadian market for information on travel management, said Canadian Alliance President Tanya Racz, CCTE. We were excited to make adjustments to accommodate the number of attendees today, and we are committed to continuing to meet corporate travel education needs throughout Canada.

The Canadian Alliance Education Exchange Day is sponsored by Midwest Airlines, Vision 2000 Travel Group and Venture Meeting Planners and is taking place at the Toronto Sheraton Centre. Canadian Alliance of Business Travel Annual Sponsors are Continental Airlines and Scotiabank.

The agenda for conference includes the following sessions:

  • Validating Contract Metrics, presented by Andrew Menkes, CTC, Chairman & CEO, Partnership Travel Consulting

  • A Blueprint For Negotiations in Highly-Competitive Markets, presented by Phil Downe, BSc, President, Relations Management Group

  • Traveller Risk Management – Crisis & Security Management, presented by Armando Lara, Senior Vice President, Crisis & Security Management, Control Risk Group

Maximizing the Value of Supplier Relationships, panel discussion featuring representatives from a travel management company, an airline, and an online booking tool, as well as a travel manager.

As with other Canadian Alliance educational events, participants in Education Exchange can earn elective credit toward the industry`s only certification program, the Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE), offered by the Canadian Alliance`s United States-based affiliate, the National Business Travel Association (NBTA). CCTE is the certification for business travel management professionals who want to enhance their knowledge, skills and productivity.

Upcoming Canadian Alliance events include the <>bEducation Exchange Day & Holiday Social in Calgary, November 22, 2005, and the Annual Conference & Trade Show in Toronto, March 22-23, 2006.
