The 2002 edition of the ECTAA<.> Report on Policies Affecting the Tourism Industry in the European Union, the 11th edition since its creation, has just been issued.

The aim of this report is to provide tourism professionals and decision-makers in the travel trade with a comprehensive inventory of the European regulatory framework and the various community initiatives in the tourism sector.

The report lists over 150 regulations, directives, decisions, recommendations and proposals for the Community legislation relating to more than 15 different policy areas.

The 2002 edition analyses subjects, which have been of interest throughout the last decade such as air matters, consumer protection, competition and taxation, and informs about current themes like the consequences of the switch to the Euro, the EU enlargement, developments in e-commerce, etc… which all affect, directly or indirectly, the tourism industry.

The report also gives an excellent insight of the daily work of the ECTAA Secretariat in Brussels, whose mission, since more than 40 years, is to promote the interests of tourism in general, and of the travel agents and tour operators in particular, and to voice the concerns of its members to the European institutions in Brussels, Luxembourg and Strasbourg.

The document (316 pages) is available in French and in English.
