EHMA strengthens its collaboration with the universities of Lausanne and Cornell

In collaboration with EHL, EHMA has decided to offer members and partners three exclusive live lectures by EHL professors on topics of interest relating to the hotel sector.

The tragic effects of the pandemic on the hospitality world do not stop the European Hotel Managers Association – EHMA, who strengthens its collaboration with the world’s top hotel management universities looking at the future by planning education at the highest level. “The agreement recently made with the two most prestigious hotel management universities, recognized worldwide, represents an important added value for EHMA members and partners, especially in this critical and uncertain moment. It is a great opportunity not to be missed", comments Ezio A. Indiani, EHMA President and GM Hotel Principe di Savoia Milan. "To quote Benjamin Franklin 'An investment in knowledge pays the best interests'".

The Ecole Hoteliere de Lausanne (EHL) was founded in 1893, which makes it the first school in the world to provide hotel management courses. Located in Lausanne, Switzerland, it offers various internationally recognized courses and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) and represents a pole of excellence for the preparation of future managers, not only in the hospitality sector but in management and international high finance.

In collaboration with EHL, EHMA has decided to offer members and partners three exclusive live lectures by EHL professors on topics of interest relating to the hotel sector. The moderator will be Michael J. Gray, EHMA UK National Delegate. The first lecture “Hotel Technology 2020 and beyond” by Prof. Ian Millar, focused on the technologies that will be relevant to hotels in the coming years, is scheduled for February 25. Dr. Jie Yu Kerguignas will address a very topical issue on April 20, "Frontlines in crisis", on the tensions that have the most impact on the staff’s well-being and performance during Covid-19. Finally, on May 27, Dr. Florent Girardin together with Dr. Luciano Lopez will talk about the circular economy and the "Future of the hospitality industry".

As in the past, EHL will be present at the General Assembly in Lugano where, in addition to offering two online management training courses, it will take care of the Young EHMA group’s session.

Cornell University is located in Ithaca, New York State, and was founded in 1865. Its educational offerings range from arts to science, from engineering to economics, for a total of seven departments on the main campus and it boasts forty Nobel laureates. Since 1925, Cornell's School of Hotel Administration provides the most relevant hospitality business education in the world with a full range of courses. The university is always present at the annual General Meeting, offering some Executive Courses among the new participating members.

Recently EHMA has entered into an agreement that reserves to members, staff and partners a significant discount on a wide range of online courses as well as in presence when the situation allows it. To access the courses, Cornell has created a dedicated portal.
