The European Tourism Trade Fairs Association (ETTFA) elected a new executive committee at its annual general meeting in Budapest last week. Tom Nutley, Chairman of ETTFA, believes that this new committee which has been introduced will generate greater enthusiasm and participation from all association members.

All appointments were aimed at strengthening the central administration of ETTFA and providing members with more opportunity to contribute towards both the association and the industry as a whole
, he continued.

Committee members begin their term of office in July 2003 until their re-election the following year.

Since its establishment in 1992 ETTFA has been dedicated to raising its profile as an information source for the travel and exhibition industries. The newly-elected committee is aware of the ETTFA`s goals and is determined to work towards achieving them.

Stanislava Blagoeva-Duschell, director of MITT and UITT, was elected as president of ETTFA and also takes a second term as Treasurer. Nutley commented on the appointments, Stanislava has brought her experience and enormous energy into the association and so naturally all the members were happy to elect her as President and Treasurer. He added, MITT has been a strong member of ETTFA and we are confident that Stanislava`s knowledge of the association coupled with her experience within the exhibition industry will successfully steer the course of the association.

Klara Tihanyi, Director of Utazas, was elected as Vice President and is also responsible for new membership enquiries. She commented, We`ve increased our membership base to include all the major travel trade shows. We`ve gotten there through innovation, vigilance and co-operation across borders – and that`s how we intend to go on. There are many opportunities to embrace in the coming year and I am enthusiastic to explore them on behalf of ETTFA.

Other appointments to the Executive Committee include Hacer Aydin, Director of EMITT in Istanbul, as Sponsorship Officer; Fiona Jeffery, Director of WTM in London, as Media Relations Officer and David Solar, of Fitur in Spain, as WTO Relations Officer.
