Excellence, legacy and sustainability take centre stage at ABPCO 2022 Awards

ICC Birmingham and Unique Venues of Birmingham hosted the event, which included welcome drinks on 8th December at Leonardo Royal Birmingham (formerly Jury’s Inn) followed by dinner and networking at Birmingham Library.

The 2022 ABPCO Excellence Awards, which took place on Friday 9 December saw association and not for profit event professionals gather at the ICC Birmingham to celebrate a year of achievement across a range of categories 

The winners were:

  • Best Event by an In-house PCO – NASUWT for the Teachers’ Union Annual Conference 2022
  • Best Event by an Agency PCO – Seren Events Limited for AMEE and Ottawa 2022
  • Industry Supplier of the Year – P&J Live
  • Best Association Events Team – Brightelm
  • Rising Star – Rachael Masson from P&J Live
  • Guiding Star – Nicola Underhill from Hilton Birmingham Metropole
  • Best EDI at a Conference Award – ICC Belfast, Visit Belfast and Event-Ful for Harkin Belfast 2022
  • Best Sustainable Conference – Scottish Event Campus for Conference of Parties: COP26
  • Best Legacy – ICC Wales Team for their work on Protect Duty

“What an incredible event, supported by incredible people,” commented Sarah Byrne, ABPCO co-chair. “Once again, we brought together the leading UK association and not-for-profit event professionals for an incredible two days of networking, education and excellence.  The case studies and examples from the shortlisted organisations were truly inspirational, they demonstrated the incredible levels of excellence our members strive for and regularly achieve throughout all their work.”

Other events sponsors and supporters included: Harrogate Convention Centre, Crowdcomms, Abstract Events, Oxford Abstracts, Sage ICC – Newcastle, ExCeL London, P&J Live – Aberdeen, ACC Liverpool, Soaring Worldwide and Manchester Central.

Emma Duffy, ABPCO co-chair concludes: “Thank you to all those who supported the event, and thank you to those who entered the awards, this year saw our highest number of entries to date and selecting a shortlist was a real challenge.  Well done the winners, who deserve to be recognised for their excellence – but also congratulations to the runners-up – the winning margins were incredibly tight and the competition fierce.”

The 2023 ABPCO Excellence Awards will take place at P&J Live on 8th December. On 25th April 2023 ABPCO will host its second Festival of Learning in Telford.
