For the first time AACVB and ICCA will be collaborating on a joint session on the 8th October 2012 during ICCA’s Association Day at the upcoming IMEX America. With the theme “Asia Focus”, the 90-minutes session aims to discuss several key issues of Asia, including infrastructure and access, key drivers of demand and challenges faced.

The session stemmed from AACVB member’s desire to capture the growing interest in Asia from both North and South American Associations and Corporate Buyers.

This is a timely opportunity for AACVB members to participate in the session as table leaders during the discussion and share the audience on perspective of how Asia as a whole is developing in terms of the international meetings industry, how to organize business events in Asia and what various Asian CVBs can do to assist.

In addition, members of the AACVB is expected to gather in Daejeon, Korea from the 9th – 10th November 2012 for the 6th Asia for Asia Summit. With the Daejeon Convention Centre (DCC) chosen as the meeting venue, the Summit this year takes after the theme of “Changes, Adaptations and Innovations”, indicating discussions of all-round angles to improve the positioning of Asia as a business events destination.

Asia for Asia is an annual summit gathering heads of CVBs, National Tourism Organisations (NTOs) and convention industry leaders and experts to network and discuss innovative ideas and strategies to further the goals of the meetings industry. AACVB members include industry professionals from each member countries as well as industry leaders.

The marketing activities will be beneficial to the AACVB members to improve competitiveness in Asia. I personally believe that this could be carried out through the joint cooperation of AACVB as we are also working with other industry members such as AIME and IMEX in Frankfurt to create these opportunities for 2013,” said Mr. Zulkefli Hj. Sharif, President of AACVB. He further noted, “Our second mission is to reinforce the network among members and crucially, exchange information on business events industry trends which will help tremendously in sparking new innovative ideas and to encourage new and potential members to join AACVB. We have prospect members such as state bureau in Malaysia and city bureau in Indonesia and hopefully they will come on board to join AACVB.
