Tax Free World Association and Airports Council International are pleased to announce further details of the GATE ONE programme

Tax Free World Association and Airports Council International are pleased to announce further details of the GATE ONE programme, the two-day commercial airport revenues conference which opens in the Singapore Suntec Centre on 19th May.

Privatisation is an inevitable development in a region that requires so much investment in the airport infrastructure in order to keep pace with the growth in travel. David Pang, CEO Hong Kong International Airport, will open the conference with a keynote speech on its theme, `Airport Privatisation and the Commercial Imperative`. At GATE ONE countries which have privatised their airports and experts who have been part of the process will share their experiences with markets that are undergoing the process themselves. Peter Harbison, Managing Director for the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation, will provide an overview of where and when privatisation will take place.

Colin Hargrave, UK Retail Director, BAA, and Stephen Vineburg, Colonial First Estate (Commonwealth Bank) will join a panel of speakers representing airport owners, financiers and retailers in a discussion on `Expanding Commercial Opportunities`.

In `A Changing Environment` Alessandra Piovesana, Managing Director, Nuance Watson, Robbie Gill, Managing Director, The Design Solution and other presenters will analyse the effects of the liberalisation of airline market access and the concurrent entry of low cost airlines on airport retail environments given the current accelerated growth.

In the opening session on the second day, Tony Davis, CEO, Tiger Airways will give An Airline`s Perspective on the rapid development of air travel in Asia.

Kerrie Mather, Managing Director, Macquarie Airports, and Mike Tyquin, General Manager Regional, Analysis & Development SE Asia, EYE Corp will be among the expert panellists looking at `Sources of Opportunity` in airports including car parking, advertising and food & beverage.

In the session `China`s and India`s Untapped Opportunities`, Allen Chien, Head of Transport Sector Team at HSBC, Anindya Roychowdhury, Head of Infrastructure Initiative, KPMG and member of the financial advisory group to the Indian Government, and Dominique Pannier, Director of Business Development, ADP will look at the benefits of developing non-aeronautical revenues in two countries where many airports are currently going through the privatisation process.

Key suppliers of goods and services to the airport retail environment have confirmed their support for this pivotal event by providing sponsorship including The Nuance Group, SSP, Nestle ITR, EYE, Porsche Design, JCDecaux Airport and Hugo Boss.

Several other eminent speakers are still to be named for this highly influential business conference which takes place on 19th and 20th May, immediately after TFWA Asia Pacific, in the Singapore Suntec Centre level 3.

Online pre-registration is open until 28th April at www.gateone-conference.com.
