GCOA launches new web-based recruitment service

The EGCOA is backing a new web-based recruitment solution from business partner Colt Mackenzie McNair that enables golf course owners to fill lower to middle management vacancies. The portal, called CMM Select, allows golf course owners to advertise vacancies free of charge, with a placement fee applied only if an appointment is made via the service.

EGCOA Director Lodewijk Klootwijk said: “The golf business is a people’s business. Golf courses need the best people at key functions. With CMM select we have a tool that allows us to find the best people for those important functions. The EGCOA is very positive about CMM and fully supports it.”

Richard Wood, co-founder of Colt Mackenzie McNair, said: “CMM Select is an important innovation for the golf industry which, traditionally, has not always taken a professional approach to recruitment. There has been far too much reliance on personal networking and word of mouth.

“For certain positions, including sales and marketing, I think golf course owners should look to bring in professional experience and fresh ideas from sectors such as leisure, retail and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG). That’s why we have launched a global marketing campaign to raise awareness of CMM Select, targeting best-of-breed professionals operating in the retail, sales and marketing, catering and hospitality industries.”

The CMM Select portal, which is part of Colt Mackenzie McNair’s new website, will enable visitors to the site to view vacancies in real time, searching by job title, job type, region and salary band. Candidates wishing to apply for a job will be able to do so online, as well as uploading their CVs to be considered for future positions.

Colt Mackenzie McNair, which specialises in executive search for golf businesses in the UK, Europe, the Middle East & Africa, and Asia Pacific, is also offering golf course businesses a new, managed service to support CMM Select. The service will enable golf courses without their own internal HR departments to benefit from advice including benchmarking, collating CVs, candidate profiling and applicant shortlisting, all for a set fee.

The European Golf Course Owners Association provides services to support golf course owners in their aims, represents their interests and improves the golf business on a European level. The EGCOA supports the owners for example by spreading and sharing knowledge.
