Speaking at the ninth session of the Association of Greek Tourist Businesses (SETE<.>), Development Minister Nikos Christodoulakis said that a continuous upward trend is being noted in Greek tourism. The Minister said that while this has been clearly indicated over the past several years, a consistent effort should be made by the Greek tourism industry to not only maintain stakes on the international market, but also to further the development prospects, challenges and opportunities for tourism in Greece as a whole.

Commenting on some of the challenges faced by the Greek tourism industry today, Christodoulakis underlined that the tourism sector should take advantage of the opportunities ahead of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. He said that the direction the Greek tourism industry should take is to establish a stable tourist wave, based on quality products and services that will be difficult to be equated by other tourist markets.
