Heads of aviation associations meet to discuss key industry issues

The meeting further strengthens the long-standing relationship between the two highly-respected aviation associations and contributes to the valuable strategic work by both associations in representing the aviation community.

UK – Montserrat Barriga, ERA (European Regions Airline Association) Director General, and Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s Director General & CEO, met yesterday at the IATA executive offices in Geneva to exchange information and discuss key issues affecting the aviation industry.

The meeting further strengthens the long-standing relationship between the two highly-respected aviation associations and contributes to the valuable strategic work by both associations in representing the aviation community.

Alexandre de Juniac, Director General & CEO, International Air Transport Association, commented: "Strengthened co-operation between airline representative groups is more important than ever, especially in Europe where we face so many challenges. ERA and IATA share a similar agenda to work for sufficient aviation infrastructure, at lower cost. We are also determined to reduce burdensome taxation and regulations, and to increase our efforts to cut carbon emissions and improve the sustainability of our business. Europe's citizens rely on air connectivity for social and economic prosperity. Today, ERA and IATA call for governments to put aviation at the heart of their development strategies."

Montserrat Barriga, ERA’s Director General, says: “I very much look forward to continuing our work with IATA to address the regulatory and political challenges that aviation industry faces. In addition to meeting regularly with the EU’s major regulatory bodies on behalf of our members, ERA collaborates with other key industry associations to promote a healthy, safe and growing European aviation industry, ensuring the best outcomes for the aviation business.”
