Hostelling International is looking to grow in South Africa

Hostelling International (HI) has chosen South Africa as one of the key focus areas for 2011. By working closely with the local partner Travel Concept Solution, HI is looking to treble its existing network of quality hostels in the country.

Hostelling International (HI) is the only global network of hostel associations, offering 4,000 hostels in 90 countries worldwide. All hostels provide a good standard of accommodation in safe, friendly surroundings at affordable prices. The hugely popular website www.hihostels.com details the full array of hostels, provides inspiring travel guides and enables instant online reservations.

At the moment, HI offers 12 hostels in South Africa. The plan is to grow the network to about 40 hostels within the next six months.

Mikael Hansson, HI CEO, said: “We see South Africa as a country with a huge potential and we believe Travel Concept Solution can help us find the right hostels to include in our network. Our ambition is not to be the biggest operator, but the best. All hostels must meet our quality standards and they must be able to provide the guest with ‘the real hostel experience’, which means that the hostel is much more than just a place to stay. Our network of hostel is the perfect base to discover new places, learn about new cultures and make lifelong friendships.”

Simon Lewis, Owner of Travel Concept Solution, commented: “We are delighted to be working with a well know organisation like Hostelling International, we look forward to reinforcing the HI brand in South Africa.”
