HSMAI appoints Singapore chapter Board of Directors

The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI) Asia Pacific has confirmed the appointment of Maria Taylor, Vice President Distribution & Sales for Accor Asia Pacific as President of the newly formed Singapore Chapter. Bernadette Dennis, Director of BD Concepts and Managing Director of HSMAI Asia Pacific said that “HSMAI is very excited about the launch of an official chapter in Singapore as this commemorates the start of finalising chapters in other parts of the Asia Pacific Region”.

Taylor, who brings solid industry experience from across Asia Pacific with her, remarked about her appointment that “I am very pleased to accept the position as the President of the Singapore Chapter. Over the past four years, HSMAI has developed a solid platform from which we aim to further grow our membership base in Singapore, especially in our outreach to the younger sales and marketing managers. For members and even for students of hospitality, HSMAI provides a wealth of resources along with experienced members who can act as mentors”.

Taylor is supported by Klaus Kohlmayr, Director of IDeaS Advantage Consulting for IDeaS, a SAS Company, as Vice President of the HSMAI Singapore Chapter, and Nicholas Mercier, Vice President, Global Accounts for DoCoMo interTouch as Secretary/Treasurer.

The following appointments complete the Board of Directors for the Singapore Chapter:
– Chair of Programmes – Patrick Andres, Managing Director, Asia-Pacific for SynXis
– Chair of Asia Connect – Mark Wong, Vice President, Marketing & Development – Asia Pacific for Preferred Hotel Group
– Chair of Membership – Jeanette Ho, Vice President, Marketing and Sales for Raffles Hotels & Resorts
– Director at Large – Christine Toguchi, Corporate Director of Marketing, Asia Pacific for Carlson Hotels Worldwide.

Taylor, Kohlmayr and Toguchi will representative the chapter on the HSMAI Asia Pacific Board of Directors.

The Singapore Chapter already has a full plan of events for the year, including support and sponsorship of three Web In Travel events and The Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of Business & Accountancy, Centre of Excellence – Business Tourism. Three forums are planned for the year, including one on the 28th of May, “Forum: Connecting with Customers” Facilitated by Scott Friedman, author of “Using Humor for a Change”, and “Punchlines, Pitfalls and Powerful Programs”. The annual Asia Connect conference will occur on the 10th of September.
