International business travel recovery team to conduct corporate exercises in Melbourne and Sydney

Global experts on stretching business travel budgets from economic recovery to long-term profitability will reveal their secrets on 16 July 2003 in Melbourne and on 18 July 2003 in Sydney, in two of the first Executive Forums sanctioned in Australia by the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE).



According to ACTE President Mark Williams, recent conclusions reached by the G8 summit and economic indicators in the international aviation industry are in-line with the results of an industry wide survey conducted by the association and Runzheimer International, in predicting that the worst is now behind the travel industry.



The ongoing economic crisis is far from over, said Williams. Yet the fragile nature of global economic recovery means business will have to take certain steps to prevent future financial backsliding or stalling.



ACTE is bringing to Australia a multinational approach to identifying the objectives, developing strategies, and implementing programs that minimize the impact of future economic stalls while maximizing current corporate potential for growth.



The international travel community is coming to grips with SARS, the threat of terrorism and economic decline, said Williams. A growing number of companies have realized that the current lull is a proving ground for new competitive techniques. Business travel is part of that process and ACTE is reaching out to those Australian companies looking to capitalize on every new opportunity.



Each forum will offer participants a presentation on the changing role of the travel manager, the changing expectations of leadership, and a nuts and bolts presentation on travel technology. Participants will receive the association`s proprietary research documents on the perspective of CEOs and CFOs regarding business travel and a current industry wide economic survey.



Keynote speaker Ian K. Perkin, Former Head of the Economic and Legal Affairs, Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, will deliver an analysis of the immediate economic outlook for the Asia-Pacific region and its impact on the global economy. Both forums will also provide the latest assessment of travel management technology, giving attendees the advantage in evaluating electronic travel management tools, fitting them to a corporate culture, and using them to reclaim funds that can be used to finance a more aggressive travel program – one that is in tune with corporate objectives for cost savings and growth!
