International ‘Travelife Certified’ awards

After his presentation on environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility, the Travelife Certificates were handed to Sawadee Reizen (Netherlands), Joker  and Koning Aap (Belgium) and South African incoming tour operator Abang Africa.

UTRECHT – At ‘Changes in Tourism’, an event organized by the Dutch Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators ANVR, Mr. Luigi Cabrini of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) awarded several international companies with the Travelife Certificate for Tour operators & Travel agents.  

After his presentation on environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility, the Travelife Certificates were handed to Sawadee Reizen (Netherlands), Joker and Koning Aap (Belgium) and South African incoming tour operator Abang Africa.  

The Travelife award is recognition of the long-term efforts and frontrunner position of these companies regarding sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. Travelife’s criteria contain all relevant Corporate Social Responsibility themes as defined in ISO 26000. They regard a travel companies’ internal environmental and social management, its product range, its (international) business partners and customer information.

Sustainable tourism is nothing other than enjoying a good holiday with respect for the environment, people, nature and culture. Travelife has become a sector wide and internationally supported system, used throughout the industry. Mr Naut Kusters, director Travelife in The Netherlands remarked: “Travelife the first standard for tour operators and travel agents recognized by GSTC. The engagement of the awarded companies will boost sustainability in tourism.”
