Landslide vote for ITM / ACTE merger

Institute of Travel Management (ITM) members have fully endorsed the board`s recommendation to merge with the Association of Corporate Travel Executives

Institute of Travel Management (ITM) members have fully endorsed the board`s recommendation to merge with the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE). The result of the poll saw both buyer and supplier members vote overwhelmingly in favour of creating a single, powerful new voice in the business travel industry.

81% of buyers and 98% of suppliers in the 51% of ITM`s overall membership who voted during the seven days in which the on-line poll remained open, were in favour of merger.

ITM chairman Tom Stone welcomed the result. The board felt from the outset that this was the right move for ITM, but the final decision always lay with our members. The message has come back loud and clear, and we will shortly be drawing up an implementation plan, together with our new colleagues from ACTE, for the implementation of the merger and the creation of ACTE UK & Ireland.

At the moment we don`t have a firm date by which ITM will fully transfer to ACTE UK & Ireland, but expect to have a timetable in place quite quickly that will allow for all the necessary changes to be made and for the range of benefits available to our members to be significantly expanded.

The new body will be the second largest of the five ACTE regions, making up around 1,000 of a global membership of 3,500 buyers, managers and suppliers of business travel.
