Montreal hosts Destination Marketing Association International’s Annual Convention

DMAI’s annual convention provides professionals with a unique opportunity to connect and learn about the latest industry trends.

MONTREAL – From July 11 to 14, Montreal is hosting the annual convention of Destination Marketing Association International (DMAI) for this first time. More than 1,300 delegates will be attending the event, which is being held at the Palais des congres de Montreal, and the tourism spending associated with this convention is expected to inject $3.1 million into the local economy.

Based in the United States, DMAI is an international association of destination marketing organizations, including convention and tourism bureaus, visitor welcome offices, etc. DMAI supports more than 4,000 professionals from nearly 600 destinations in approximately 15 countries.

DMAI's annual convention provides professionals with a unique opportunity to connect and learn about the latest industry trends. The 2017 edition of DMAI's annual convention promises to be very enriching in this regard, with several renowned speakers on the agenda. On July 13, writer, producer and world traveller Evita Turquoise Robinson will share her vision of the future of tourism. After travelling to some 30 countries on three continents, she created, in 2011, the Nomadness Travel Tribe, an online social community now 16,000 members strong, for people who are passionate about travel and urban destinations. Convention delegates will also enjoy a presentation by Willie Geist, an American television personality who hosts NBC News' Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist. He is also the author of three New York Times best-selling humour books.

Yves Lalumiere, President and CEO of Tourisme Montreal, is welcoming the American conference's decision to hold its meeting in Montreal. "I am delighted to host DMAI members in our city. These destination marketing specialists are sure to find inspiration in Montreal, an exceptional urban centre and city of tomorrow."
