The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) – the leading association for the business travel industry – applauded the U.S. Department of Treasury for recognizing the value of an effective corporate travel and meetings policy. In its new executive compensation rules, the agency has required recipients of Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) funds to develop a company-wide policy for meetings, events and other corporate travel expenses.

Kevin Maguire, CCTE, GLP, NBTA President & CEO, said, “Corporate travel is vital to the success and growth of businesses, local economies, and millions of American jobs. NBTA is pleased that Treasury has pointed to travel management as a tool to contain costs and ensure efficient and effective corporate travel and practices.”

As the industry leader in promoting the value of business travel management, NBTA stands ready to support TARP recipients with the resources necessary to develop meetings and events policies. Through industry education, research and networking opportunities, NBTA will offer TARP recipients tools to increase policy transparency and accountability.

Maguire continued, “As businesses update, edit or develop their corporate travel and meetings policies, we welcome them to utilize NBTA resources for suggestions and best practices to ensure competitive bidding, expense reporting, cost containment and policy compliance. NBTA has been at the forefront of managed travel for more than 40 years, and we look forward to offering these businesses guidance in strategic management of their corporate meetings and events.”
