Bill Connors, CTC, Executive Director & COO of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA),attended the launch of the Registered Traveler Pilot Program at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to show NBTA’s support for the program.

NBTA has backed the pilot program since it was announced in June and for two years prior to that advocated for the introduction of such an initiative. NBTA representatives spoke at earlier launch events at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport and at Boston-Logan International Airport. Today’s launch at National Airport marks the beginning of the final of five tests of the program.

“NBTA supports strong travel security programs, because we know that travel security is national security,” said Connors. “Travel security can be both effective and efficient. Providing business travelers the option of strong, expedited screening will help make our businesses, our economy, and our country even stronger.”

Connors continued, “This test of the Registered Traveler Program at five airports shows that TSA is committed to expediting the screening process. Throughout the test, NBTA has continued to advocate for the eventual implementation of a permanent Registered Traveler program. A national Registered Traveler program that operates on a fully voluntary basis would speed the screening process for all travelers, while continuing to provide the high level of security this nation expects and demands.”
