Tourism Ireland will continue its drive to engage UK buyers by signing up with the Meetings Industry Association (MIA), the largest association for the meetings industry in the UK and Ireland. The membership forms part of Tourism Ireland’s strategy to deliver €1billion worth of economic benefit through business related travel by 2013.
David Boyce, Deputy Director Great Britain at Tourism Ireland comments: “Tourism Ireland is a leading business destination and membership of the MIA reflects our commitment to engage with the industry and our buyers. The MIA provides unrivalled access to research, networking and benchmarking with other destinations, and gives added value to our partner venues”.
Jane Evans, Chief Executive of the MIA adds: “We are delighted to welcome Tourism Ireland to the MIA, adding them to our already extensive list of destination members. Ireland is a world leading destination for meetings and events, and we look forward to working with David Boyce and his team to help take that message to the widest possible audience”.
As the founder of Accredited in Meetings (AIM), the only meetings industry standard endorsed by VisitBritain, the MIA will also offer Ireland’s renowned venues the opportunity to become fully accredited under this scheme. Once carried out, this will make Ireland one of only a handful of destinations to hold this certification.
