NYC & Company, the City’s tourism, marketing and partnership organization, announced the Urban Oasis travel contest in partnership with the social media outlet Trazzler, leveraging the Twitter network. Urban Oasis, which began July 22 and runs through September 18, allows entrants to compete for a Grand Prize of $10,000, round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations for a two-week stay in New York City. Entrants can enter to win by submitting their travel experiences on trazzler.com and sharing them on Twitter.
“New York City’s energy and vibrancy have always served as a source of inspiration for many people around the world,” said NYC & Company CEO George Fertitta. “Our new partnership with Trazzler and engagement on Twitter aims to excite a larger audience about all there is to do and see in the City. There is no better way to reach others than through personal experiences and storytelling, and the Urban Oasis contest is a perfect vehicle for interpersonal communication.”
In partnership with sponsors JetBlue Airways and AKA, the Grand Prize winner will be awarded a $10,000 contract to write and reside in New York City for two weeks. As part of the agreement, the winner will contribute 30 Trazzler trips featuring all five boroughs. The Grand Prize package includes hotel accommodations for 14 nights provided by luxury extended-stay brand, AKA, and round-trip airfare with New York-based JetBlue Airways.
“Trazzler is a site for dreamers, so when we wanted to find a dream assignment for our first two-week writer’s residency, it had to be New York City,” said Adam Rugel, founder of Trazzler. “For generations, writers from around the world have flocked to NYC to drink from the fountain of inspiration-where better to write a series of trips on the theme ‘oasis?’ We are excited to partner with NYC & Company on Urban Oasis and promote these special, only-in-New-York-City spots that locals love and smart visitors seek out."
In addition to the Grand Prize, there will be four Editors’ Choice contracts worth $500 and nine runners-up contracts worth $250 in exchange for Trazzler trips.
"What could be better than New York City and Trazzler.com when it comes to inspired travel writing," said Biz Stone, Twitter Co-founder and Trazzler adviser. "We are excited to see how this uniquely creative partnership plays out as NYCGO spreads globally across the Twitter network-Both Jack and I look forward to participating with by contributing trips and with my own suggested urban oasis.”
Urban Oasis will also be featured on trazzler.com trip pages and nycgo.com. To enter, visit trazzler.com/constests/nyc. The contest is only open to U.S. residents and some restrictions do apply.
