Upgrades will take place at airports in Maryborough, Charleville, Julia Creek and Lockhart River in Queensland; Griffith, Coonamble, Orange and Dubbo in NSW; Geraldton and Carnarvon in WA; and Ramingining and Katherine in the Northern Territory.

The upgrades will be funded through the Regional Airport Funding Program.

Minister for Transport and Regional Services, Warren Truss, said the Federal Government was determined to protect the security of the many people and businesses in regional Australia who rely on their airports every day of the year.

These security upgrades will increase confidence in our regional airports and will provide a boost for both local communities and their wider regions, he said.
