Aeromexico announces new service between DFW International Airport and Mexico City

DFW success in international expansion continues with two daily flights served by Aeromexico Connect Embraer E-190 aircraft.

DFW AIRPORT, TEXAS – Aeromexico, the global airline of Mexico, has announced that it will start new service between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport and Mexico City in early November. Aeromexico is also announcing special fares to promote the new service.  The route will feature twice-daily service aboard Embraer E-190 aircraft, which can seat up to 99 passengers.

Aeromexico is delighted to start service between Dallas Fort Worth and Mexico City as of November 5,” said Oscar Mejia, Aeromexico VP for North America Sales Division.  “We are confident that the community in Dallas/Fort Worth will enjoy traveling with Aeromexico due to the fact that we are an airline that offers superb amenities that are complimentary to our passengers, such as meal service, full bar, audio/video entertainment, plus the fact that our schedules will enable travel to a wide array of destinations in Mexico, Central and South America.

DFW International Airport is pleased and proud to welcome Aeromexico service to Mexico City,” said Jeff Fegan CEO of DFW International Airport.  “We are very happy to have Mexico’s leading airline back with us at DFW, and our passengers will benefit from having additional flight choices for international travel.

Aeromexico is Mexico’s leading airline.  Aeromexico carried 14 million passengers in 2011 and offers nearly 600 daily flights to 45 destinations in Mexico and 32 international destinations in the United States, Canada, Central and South America, Europe and Asia.

The impending arrival of Aeromexico continues DFW’s sustained and successful run of adding new international air service.  In the past two years, DFW has added 12 new international destinations and four international passenger air carriers, marking the most successful period of international expansion in the Airport’s history.

Aeromexico is a founding member of SkyTeam, and will join three other members of that global airline alliance serving DFW, including Delta Air Lines, Korean Air and KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

DFW becomes the 18th U.S. destination served by Aeromexico.  Aeromexico’s departures from DFW to Mexico City will take place at 11:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. daily, and the daily arrivals from Mexico City are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Also, Grupo Aeromexico, S.A.B. de C.V. and Aimia Inc. are pleased to report that they have reached an agreement in principle in connection with the sale to Aimia of an additional 20% equity participation in Premier Loyalty & Marketing, S.A.P.I. de C.V. (“PLM”), owner and operator of Club Premier, Mexico’s leading coalition loyalty program. PLM’s fair value has been established at US$518 million and Aimia will pay US$88 million, which includes a discount agreed to at the time of Aimia’s initial investment in PLM in September of 2010. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, including the execution of definitive agreements and Mexican regulatory approvals, and is expected to close before the end of 2012. After closing, Aimia’s and Grupo Aeromexico’s equity participations in PLM will approximate 49% and 51%, respectively.

Grupo Aeromexico and Aimia will continue their close collaboration and support of PLM’s management team in the execution of their strategy to enable PLM to achieve its full potential as Mexico’s leading coalition loyalty program.

Citibank acted as advisor to Grupo Aeromexico in the transaction, while RBC Capital Markets advised Aimia.
