Air Seats to Hawai`i Projected to increase nearly nine percent between July and September

Total air seats to Hawai`i are projected to increase 8.6 percent between July and September compared to the same three months in 2004, according to a Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism (DBEDT) analysis of OAG flight schedules. DBEDT`s latest three-month rolling air service outlook also shows that scheduled domestic air seats will rise 11.6 percent during the three-month period, while international seats are forecast Nonstop scheduled air seats to Hawai`i from the U.S. West are projected to increase 13.3 percent from July through September. Gains will be seen from the two top domestic markets – Los Angeles (+9.7%) and San Francisco (+6.5%).



Markets with the highest percentage changes over 2004 levels are: Las Vegas (+171.3%); Salt Lake City (+100.0%); and Phoenix (+77.9%), which does not include the new America West air service beginning in December (see story on page 2).



Scheduled air seats from the U.S. East are forecast to grow 4.2 percent during the three-month period. Atlanta (+100.0%), and the largest U.S. East port-of-entry, Chicago (+5.5%), will see the largest year-over-year increases for the period.



Japanese scheduled air seats will gain 2.1 percent between July and September, while Canadian air seats are projected to grow 3.4 percent.
