Latest air transport risk management systems will be on display at the 2-4 June Airport Build and Supply Exhibition to be held under the Patronage of Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Department of Civil Aviation, at Dubai Airport Expo.

Now in its third successful year, the event is recognised regionally as an important element in the pre-qualification process for work on airport development projects in the Middle East. Over 100 exhibitors will participate in the 2003 event. The three-day show offers outstanding business opportunities for a wide range of suppliers and contractors.

One of the most profitable markets in the world for suppliers to the aviation industry is undoubtedly the Middle East, and particularly the Arabian Gulf (GCC) states where massive developments, expansions and upgrades are currently underway.

With the United Arab Emirates leading the way, Middle Eastern airports are preparing themselves for increasing passenger traffic flows in the next few years by rapidly expanding and developing new terminals, concourses, cargo terminals and runways – all being built to the most advanced and aesthetic specifications and standards possible, organisers says.

Streamline Company adds: With over 30 million passengers expected to pass through Dubai International Airport by 2010, and Emirates Airline having signed orders for $15 billion worth of aircraft, the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation has embarked upon the next phase of its massive expansion programme, which incorporates the design and construction of Terminal 3, a second concourse and a Mega Cargo Terminal. The Government has committed a total of US $2.5 billion for the overall airport expansion and is scheduled for completion in 2006.

Neighbouring Abu Dhabi is currently heading for a major US $600 million expansion, expected to be completed by 2004. The Middle East Aviation Journal, the Gulf`s only definitive aviation magazine, will hold a one-day seminar during the event. Eminent speakers will address delegates from regional civil aviation authorities on topical issues related to airport security and safety.
