Alaska Airlines adds seasonal service between Anchorage and Kona, Hawaii

Alaska residents will have convenient access to some of Hawaii’s best snorkeling and the world-famous Kilauea volcano starting Nov. 10 when Alaska Airlines begins new weekly service between Anchorage and Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. The nonstop seasonal service to Kona begins Nov. 10 and ends April 7, 2013. The new service complements the airline’s year-round daily service to Honolulu and seasonal service to Maui which begins Nov. 4 and ends April 14, 2013.

"Our loyal customers have been asking for Kona flights for years and we’re delighted to expand our Aloha service to give Alaskans convenient, nonstop access to another great Hawaiian Island," said Marilyn Romano, Alaska Airlines’ regional vice president — Alaska. "Our customers will be able to enjoy Alaska Airlines’ unique brand of service to and from Kona while earning 2,876 Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan miles each way."

Alaska Airlines will continue to celebrate its new service to Kona throughout the summer by giving away 49 tickets to Hawaii at fairs, on local radio stations and at other community events.

The flights will be operated with Boeing 737-800 aircraft, accommodating 16 passengers in first class and 141 in the main cabin.
