Turks and Caicos is an increasingly popular destination. Even in light of recent events, tourism arrivals are still relatively good compared to other destinations. The 40 islands of the Turks and Caicos, eight of which are inhabited, make up a self-governing British Overseas Territory located 575 miles southeast of Miami. The islands consist of two groups: the Turks, which include the capital island Grand Turk and Salt Cay; and the Caicos, which include South Caicos, Middle Caicos, North Caicos, Parrot Cay, Pine Cay and Providenciales, as well as the uninhabited West Caicos and East Caicos. The islands are renowned for their award-winning beaches, excellent diving and fishing, and array of first-class resorts.
