American Airlines reinstates seasonal Edinburgh-Philadelphia route, enhancing transatlantic connectivity and boosting tourism between the US and Scotland from May to October 2025.
The daily seasonal route between Edinburgh and Philadelphia will be reinstated next year as American Airlines returns to Scotland. The airline will be back in Scotland’s capital for the first time since 2019, with its first flight from Edinburgh departing on 24 May 2025. The service will end on 5 October and will be served by a Boeing 787-800 aircraft.

North America continues to be one of the most attractive inbound and outbound markets for Scotland and the arrival of this service represents a further boost to travellers looking to explore the US and Scotland’s tourism industry.
The Philadelphia flight sees Edinburgh Airport – now part of the VINCI Airports network – reconnect to all of its pre-Covid transatlantic routes, and with a host of new additions also being added to the schedule since then there’s now more choice than ever before.
