Azorra, a global aircraft lessor, has announced the delivery of an Airbus A220-300 to Cyprus Airways, marking the beginning of a new collaboration. The aircraft, previously part of EGYPTAIR’s fleet, is the first of several A220s acquired by Azorra in February 2024 and reflects the airline’s commitment to modernizing its operations and expanding its fleet with fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly aircraft.
John Evans, CEO and Founder of Azorra, highlighted the significance of this delivery, stating, “We’re proud to welcome Cyprus Airways as an Azorra customer. The delivery of this A220, featuring freshly overhauled and updated engines from Pratt & Whitney, will complement the airline’s existing Airbus fleet. The A220 offers exceptional fuel efficiency, cost savings, and passenger comfort.” He also emphasized the partnership’s potential for long-term success and mutual benefit, reflecting Azorra’s strategic focus on fostering strong relationships with regional airlines.
Cyprus Airways, the flag carrier of Cyprus, views the A220 as a critical addition to its fleet, aligning with its broader objectives of sustainability, safety, and operational efficiency. Thanos Paschalis, CEO of Cyprus Airways, expressed the airline’s enthusiasm: “Cyprus Airways is delighted to receive one more Airbus A220 aircraft to enhance our current fleet. The aircraft encompasses the latest technology in safety and operations and has one of the best environmental footprints of any aircraft flying.”
This delivery underscores the airline’s commitment to fleet modernization, focusing on aircraft that offer reduced fuel consumption and environmental impact while ensuring a high level of passenger comfort. Furthermore, the collaboration between Azorra and Cyprus Airways is expected to deepen with the upcoming delivery of a brand-new Airbus A220 from Azorra, signaling a shared vision of sustainable aviation growth.
In a competitive aviation market, the partnership between Azorra and Cyprus Airways highlights both companies’ dedication to innovation and sustainability. By choosing the A220, the company is enhancing its operational capabilities and positioning itself as a leader in eco-friendly air travel, in line with global industry trends.
