Katowice Airport

In October 2024, Katowice Airport recorded its highest October passenger traffic ever with 559,549 travelers, marking an 11.9% increase from 2023, driven by growth in both regular and charter flights.

The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL SA) – the company managing Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport in Pyrzowice, Poland – has summarised passenger traffic for the tenth month of 2024.

During thirty-one days of October 2024, Katowice Airport noted 559 549 passengers in total traffic, i.e. 59 371 more (+11.9%) in comparison with the same time in 2023, when airlines carried 500 178 persons. It was the best tenth month in the history of Katowice Airport; the previous best result for that period was noted in 2023.

In October 2024, 281 014 passengers, 10 436 more (+3.6%) than last year, travelled via the Airport network of regular flights, which are handled at the airport by Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti (the carrier handles flights for Lufthansa). Charter traffic, handled for travel agencies, saw 273 944 served passengers, 45 634 more (+20.0%) than in 2023.

In the tenth month of 2024, the Airport saw 4 408 aircraft takeoffs and landings, i.e. 286 more (+6.9%) than in October 2023.

Between January and the end of October 2024, airlines handled 5 672 168 passengers on flights to/from Katowice Airport: 687 398 more (+13.8%) than last year. 2 668 282 persons flew on regular flights; that’s 149 097 travellers more (+5.9%) than in the same time in 2023. 2 982 445 passengers flew with travel agencies; that’s 533 978 clients more (+21.8%) than last year. During ten months of 2024, Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport noted 42 691 takeoffs and landings, i.e. 2 922 more (+7.3%) than last year.

“A record-breaking year is slowly concluding for Katowice Airport, but there’s one important event awaiting us, as at the turn of December, we expect to handle, for the first time in the airport’s history, the six-millionth passenger in a single calendar year. We will conclude the entire year with over 6.2M handled passengers,” said Artur Tomasik, President of the Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group.

The Airport is among the biggest regional airports in Poland. 5.6M passengers travelled via its network of flights in 2023. The forecast estimates that 6.2M passengers will be handled in 2024, the most in the history of Katowice Airport. Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport is the country leader in the area of charter flights, and one of the biggest cargo airports in Poland.
