Delta flight to Tokyo-Narita to be first to depart concourse F at Atlanta’s International Terminal

Delta Air Lines flight 295 to Tokyo-Narita will become the first flight to depart Concourse F at the new Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal when it opens at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Shortly after flight 295’s departure, Delta flight 177 from Dublin, Ireland will be the first arrival on the new concourse.

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-certified international terminal complex is the new doorway for customers arriving in and departing from Atlanta for international destinations. The new Concourse F, which connects to Concourse E, includes 12 gates. Delta from Atlanta today operates more than 1,000 daily departures to 208 destinations, including nonstop service to 65 international destinations.

Inside Concourse F, the newest Delta Sky Club features seating and ample space for more than 300 guests, world-class amenities including eight shower suites, multiple work areas and art designed to capture the spirit of Delta’s international destinations. The Club also offers The Luxury Bar with premium wines, champagne and spirits available for purchase. Windows across the Club offer mezzanine-level views of Delta’s operations in Atlanta.

The new terminal eliminates the need for Atlanta-destined passengers to recheck their baggage. Departing customers will access the international terminal via I-75 at Exit 239. Shuttle service connects to the domestic terminal, domestic parking facilities and MARTA train service to downtown Atlanta. The Plane Train and pedestrian walkway both have been extended to offer access to the Maynard H. Jackson Jr. International Terminal.

"The new international terminal is Atlanta’s new front door to the world," said Richard Anderson, Delta’s chief executive officer. "On behalf of Delta people worldwide, I want to congratulate aviation general manager Louis Miller, Mayor Kasim Reed and the City of Atlanta for seeing this project to its completion and thank them for continuing the strong partnership Delta has had with the airport and city for more than 70 years."

"Delta’s contribution to the new terminal and concourse is part of a more than $3 billion investment in facilities, products and technology in the air and on the ground,"
said Anderson. "In addition to this premier international gateway in Atlanta, renovations and expansions to Delta airport facilities also are underway in New York, Seattle, Los Angeles and Salt Lake City."

As Delta becomes the leading airline in New York, work is underway on a $160 million renovation at La Guardia Airport to support 100 new daily departures including a new Delta Sky Club, chef-driven dining options and an enclosed walkway behind security connecting Terminals C and D. A $1.2 billion expansion of Terminal 4 at New York-JFK will house nine new international widebody gates and a flagship Delta Sky Club when it opens in spring 2013.

Delta’s facilities at the Los Angeles International Airport are being renewed as part of that airport’s $4 billion overhaul, including a new baggage system, better customs processing facilities and refreshed food and beverage. At Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, a key portal to Asia, Delta is working with the city to renovate the lobby into a more open format for smoother check-in and baggage drop. Delta also is supporting a $1.8 billion terminal redevelopment program with Salt Lake City that will, over the next ten years, include a new terminal, renovation of 34 existing gates and a new 40 gate concourse, as well as other facility infrastructure enhancements.
