Emirates, one of the world`s fastest-growing airlines is looking forward to an exciting summer of sport that includes some of the most high-profile events taking place this year. From international sailing and football, to rugby, horse racing and golf, Emirates will play a leading role in what promises to be a thrilling summer of sport.

In addition to the sporting events that Emirates has already been associated with this year, including the Group 1 Dubai World Cup, the Dubai Desert Classic, the Holden New Zealand Open and the Dubai Rugby Sevens, Emirates is involved in a large number of major global sporting events this summer, starting with football where the airline is an Official Partner of the 2005 FIFA Confederations Cup which kicks off in Germany today.

As soon as the English premiership season returns to action in August, football fans around the world will see some of the most famous names in the game being refereed by match officials sporting the Fly Emirates logo. In addition to this, Emirates Stadium, the new home of Arsenal Football Club, is rapidly taking shape ahead of the 2006/2007 season when Emirates will take over as the club`s sponsor for eight years.

Emirates also recently extended its involvement with Asian football in a multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), which will see the airline directly associated with football throughout Asia.

On the water, Emirates Team New Zealand will be hoping to repeat the success it achieved last year when the Louis Vuitton Cup 2005 starts on June 16th in Valencia. The Louis Vuitton Cup is the challenger series that precedes the world`s premier yacht racing event, the America`s Cup, which will take place in 2007, and Emirates Team New Zealand will be aiming to keep their place at the head of the pack in the challenge for the 32nd America`s Cup.

With England and Australia preparing to do battle for The Ashes, all cricket fans will be tuned to one of the most keenly awaited sporting events in recent memory. Again, Emirates will have a leading role to play in the series, with its sponsorship of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires and Referees for all Test and One Day International matches. The cricket theme will be continued with Emirates` partnership with the Dubai Cricket Council seeing the introduction of a new tournament, the Emirates Airline Cricket Cup, featuring the 16 elite teams in the United Arab Emirates.

Emirates` continued support of horse racing will also be seen throughout the summer, via their partnership with Godolphin, horse racing`s most successful international stable, and sponsorship of a series of prestigious race meetings around the world including York (UK), the Curragh (Republic of Ireland), The Princess Margaret Cup in Mauritius, the Singapore Derby and the Breeders Cup in the USA.

Rounding off what will be an awesome calendar of sport this summer will be three more PGA European Tour golf events where Emirates will be playing a prominent role, The BMW Munich International Open in Germany, the BMW Asian Open in Shanghai and the Barclays Scottish Open.

So no matter whether your sport is football, cricket, rugby, golf, sailing or horse racing, Emirates promises you a summer of sporting excellence to enjoy around the world.
