Gulf Air and Bahrain Airport Services (BAS) have signed an agreement to train a group of 25 Bahrainis to be accredited and qualified aircraft maintenance engineers. Gulf Air Chief Operating Officer Bjorn Naf signed on behalf of the carrier while BAS Chief Executive Officer Graham Keddie signed on behalf of his company at the services company’s headquarters in Muharrraq.

“As the national carrier for Bahrain, Gulf Air is extremely proud to be part of this process to ensure a bright future for Bahrainis,” said Mr. Naf.

“This signing is very significant as it reflects Gulf Air’s commitment to invest in Bahraini youth who are the future not only of the national carrier but also their homeland,” said Mr. Naf after the signing ceremony. “This training is an ongoing process and we would like to thank BAS who will be our partners in this march toward the future.”

The 25 Bahrainis will undergo an intense four-year, theoretical and practical training, to obtain their globally recognized aircraft maintenance engineer license, which is accredited by European Aviation Safety Agents (EASA).

For his part Mr. Keddie thanked Gulf Air for the opportunity given to BAS which offers, ground services, cargo, engineering, aircraft and terminal catering as well as management and administration.

“We are delighted to be given this opportunity to train and develop Bahrainis. We have a very high level training program which is fully accredited by EASA and the qualification is recognized worldwide,” said Mr. Keddie.
