ITA Airways adds additional flight on the direct Rome Fiumicino – New York JFK connection starting June 1

With the new flight, three are the daily frequencies between Rome and JFK ITA Airways launches today a new communication campaign for the US market.

ROME / NEW YORK – To meet the high customers’ demand, ITA Airways is strengthening its offer of direct connections between Rome and New York. As of 1 June 2023, an additional round-trip flight Rome Fiumicino – New York JFK, the AZ 602 and AZ 603, will start operations, bringing to three the daily frequencies connecting the Italian capital to the John Fitzgerald Kennedy International Airport.

Considering also the daily connection operated from Milan Malpensa to New York JFK, departing at 12.55 p.m. and landing at 4.15 p.m. local time, four are altogether the daily round-trip flights operated by ITA Airways between Italy and the Big Apple, bringing to 28 the total number of weekly frequencies to JFK.

Operated by an Airbus A330, the new AZ602 will depart every day at 9.15 a.m. from Fiumicino to land at 1:00 p.m. local time in New York. This new connection joins the AZ608 departing at 10:10 a.m. and the AZ610 departing at 3:10 p.m. from Rome Fiumicino already in the company’s schedule. The new return flight from New York, AZ603, will depart at 6:05 p.m. local time, to arrive in Rome at 8:40 a.m. and will complete ITA Airways’ JFK – FCO offer, which already includes AZ609 departing at 4:00 p.m. from JFK and AZ611 taking off at 9:30 p.m., local time.

North America is thus the center of the Company's investments in Summer 2023, which will see the opening of new routes from Rome Fiumicino to Washington (from 2 June with 5 weekly frequencies that will become daily in August) and to San Francisco (from 1 July with 3 weekly frequencies that will increase to 5 from August).

The two new intercontinental destinations will be operated with the Airbus A330 (route to Washington) and with the Airbus A350, the company’s flagship (route to San Francisco). All ITA Airways’ new flights are already on sale, and can be purchased on the ita-airways.com website, from the ITA Airways Call Center, or from travel agencies and airport ticket offices.

The strategic importance of the American market for ITA Airways is also confirmed by the launch of a new advertising campaign that will be on-air from today until 26 March in the cities of New York – where it will be displayed all throughout Manhattan – and Miami to promote its three daily flights from John F. Kennedy International Airport and the daily connection out of Miami International Airport.

Through a creative twist, the communication flow establishes a direct link between the Italian flagship carrier and Italy, enhancing the beauty of Italian destinations and the feelings they inspire. The campaign will be on billboards and will also have a strong web presence.

ITA Airways recently announced its 2023 Summer schedule, with flights to 68 destinations, including 22 national, 36 international and 10 intercontinental. In addition to the new intercontinental routes in the North American market, which are the big feature of its summer season, the Company will reach the most popular Mediterranean destinations with flights to the islands of Italy, Spain, Greece and Croatia. ITA Airways will operate seasonal flights from Rome Fiumicino and Milan Linate to Lampedusa, Pantelleria, Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca, Menorca, Heraclion, Corfu and Rhodes; moreover, the destinations of Kefalonia and Split will be served from Rome Fiumicino.
