The launch of the Japan Airlines (JAL) and American Airlines (AA) code share operation on the Tokyo-Los Angeles route originally scheduled for April 2 has been postponed to June 15*.

>From June 15, JAL will start code sharing flight with AA`s daily one-way flights, effectively increasing JAL`s own current weekly total of 16 flights on the route to a total of 30 one-way flights per week.

The postponement is believed to be for marketing reasons, with American Airlines feeling it will be more successful to start the code share in peak season.

On the Tokyo-Dallas/Fort Worth route where the two carriers already code share, AA will increase flight frequency from 22 to 24 per week on a one-way basis from April. (*first ex-Japan departure)
