Middle East demand for Aviation Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) will soar in the next few years due to the arrival of new regional airlines and massive fleet expansion among established carriers, according to an Asian specialised services provider set for its Dubai air show debut this November.

Singapore-based Raycom Aerospace, a specialist manufacturer of aircraft engine components, says regional demand for its services is set to double by 2007 and future expansion includes the launch of a Dubai-based design and manufacturing support team to complement its existing sales operations in the emirate.

Intensifying competition amongst Arab airlines has made them more cost-conscious and they are looking for leaner means to maintain their edge, said Iwan Marks, Business Development Manager, Raycom Aerospace.

The Middle East is a key growth market for MRO providers and the Dubai air show is the ideal platform to establish contacts and network with the industry`s key decision makers.

Raycom is among a slew of MRO providers both from within the Middle East and beyond lined up for Dubai 2005, which will be held at the Airport Expo Dubai from November 20-24. Among them is Air New Zealand Engineering Services which is looking to the show to produce joint venture leads.

Our first Dubai air show participation in 2003 created expanded opportunities for us in the region and gave us brand exposure, said a company spokesman. We now want to investigate JV and alliance opportunities for operations support and maintenance, repair and overhaul in the region.

We believe the region is important because of the expansion of the low cost carrier segment, particularly serving the Indian Sub-continent, the growth of the region`s full service carriers and the increase in private business jet operations.

At Dubai 2005, Air New Zealand Engineering Services is planning to launch an upgraded offering covering engineering design services and full service fleet management.

Currently around 700 exhibitors from 42 countries have confirmed participation in Dubai 2005, the ninth international aerospace exhibition.

Dubai 2005 is organised by F&E in conjunction with the Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and in collaboration with the UAE Armed Force

F&E in conjunction with Royal Jet, the Abu Dhabi-headquartered international luxury VIP aircraft charter company, is also organising the inaugural Middle East Business Aviation (MEBA) conference – the first of its kind to run in conjunction with a Dubai air show, to be held at the Le Meridien Dubai on November 19th.
