From January to the end of February 2023, 519,171 passengers were handled at Katowice Airport, i.e. 236,864 more (+83.9%) than during the first two months of 2022.

The Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL SA) – the company managing Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport in Pyrzowice, Poland – has summarized passenger traffic for the second month of 2023.

In February 2023, 252,093 passengers, 110,562 more (+78.1%) than during the second month of 2022, travelled on regular and charter flights to and from Katowice Airport. 191,724 travellers, i.e. 94,966 more (+98.1%) than last year, were served on regular flights handled by Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa (since 22 January, the carrier’s flights to/from Katowice Airport are handled by Air Dolomiti) and KLM. Passengers most often travelled to Dortmund, London-Luton, London-Stansted, Eindhoven and Warsaw. 58 030 passengers, 13,660 more (+30.8%) than in February 2022, were served on charter flights handled for travel agencies. Passengers most often travelled to Marsa Alam, Hurghada, Antalya, Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria. During the second month of 2023, 2 299 aircraft operations took place at Katowice Airport, i.e. 415 more (+22%) in comparison with the same time period last year.

“First months of 2023 at Katowice Airport were very satisfying. In February, just like in January, we noted a record-breaking result in the area of flights handled for travel agencies. Thus far, February 2019 was the best second month when it comes to charter flights; nearly 48.5 thousand passengers were handled. Last month, we improved that result by nearly 10 thousand travellers. We are looking forward to a record-breaking summer season, which will contribute towards over 5 million passengers being handled in a single year for the first time in the history of Katowice Airport,” said Artur Tomasik, the President of the Board of The Upper Silesian Aviation Board (GTL SA), the company managing Katowice Wojciech Korfanty Airport.

From January to the end of February 2023, 519,171 passengers were handled at Katowice Airport, i.e. 236,864 more (+83.9%) than during the first two months of 2022. During the first two months of 2023, 4 788 aircraft takeoffs and landings took place, that’s 909 operations more (+23.4%) than in 2022.
