SAS joins a Dutch-Danish green hydrogen initiative, aiming to create Northwest Europe’s leading hydrogen cluster to support sustainable aviation.
SAS joins a collaboration between Danish green hydrogen producers and Dutch industrial markets, in the presence of His Majesty the King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands, His Majesty King Frederik of Denmark, Dutch Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Climate Policy and Green Growth Sophie Hermans, and Danish Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Lars Aagaard.
The partnership was formalized by signing a declaration at the Dutch-Danish Forum on hydrogen cooperation at the premises of Danish Industry.
“There is a need for increased stimulation of demand to establish a European green hydrogen market and develop the necessary hydrogen infrastructure. Danish producers and Dutch offtake sectors will work together to encourage their governments to secure the necessary financing to rapidly scale up green hydrogen uptake. We will provide clear, transparent signals on pipeline capacity bookings and align on regulatory and financial framework conditions to stay competitive.” the Decleration says.
This cross-country initiative aims to establish Northwest Europe’s leading green hydrogen cluster, bridging Danish production with Dutch demand. By enhancing green hydrogen infrastructure, the collaboration seeks to boost demand, advocate for government support, and secure funding to make green hydrogen a competitive energy source across the region.
SAS is committed to playing a key role in driving this sustainable transformation, partnering with stakeholders to drive progress toward a more sustainable future for aviation.
“We’re very excited and proud to join forces in this green hydrogen partnership, which brings us closer to a sustainable future for aviation. If Europe is to meet its climate goals and strengthen energy security, public and private sectors as well as countries must work together to build a strong green hydrogen market. We’re committed to doing our part to help drive real progress”, says SAS President & CEO, Anko van der Werff.
