Increased travel during the Easter weekend and one-week school holidays last month boosted Singapore Changi Airport`s March 2005 passenger traffic by 11.1% year-on-year, to 2.63 million. Growth in passenger traffic in the first quarter came in at 5.9%, bringing the total number of passengers served at Changi Airport in the first three months to 7.47 million.
Cargo traffic slipped 0.4% in March 2005, compared to the corresponding month a year ago, to about 155,420 tonnes. Taken as a whole, air cargo through Changi Airport in the first quarter rose 2.0% year-on-year to about 424,570 tonnes.
Changi Airport is now served by 78 airlines that operate more than 3,800 weekly flights to over 170 cities in the world.
