SWISS extends suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut until 21 August 2024

SWISS extends flight suspensions to Tel Aviv and Beirut, avoids airspace over Iran, Iraq, and Israel until August 21, prioritizing safety.

After further review of the situation in the Middle East, SWISS has decided to extend the suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv and Beirut until and including Friday, 21 August. The airspace over Iran, Iraq and Israel will be avoided as well until 21 August. The airspace over Iran, Iraq and Israel will also not be used until that date.

“We very much regret the inconvenience this may cause our passengers, but the safety of our passengers and crew always takes top priority. Affected passengers will be contacted directly. Of course, we offer free rebooking to a later date or a full refund of the ticket price.” says SWISS.

“We are continuing to monitor the situation in the Middle East. Our specialists are evaluating all available information and are in constant contact with the relevant authorities in Switzerland and on site.”

SWISS is part of the Lufthansa Group and a member of the Star Alliance, the largest network of airlines in the world. The airline operates scheduled services in Europe and to North America, South America, Africa and Asia. Zurich Airport serves as its main hub and Geneva Airport as its secondary hub.

Lufthansa has also extended its avoidance of Iranian and Iraqi airspace and said it would suspend flights to and from Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman and the Iraqi city of Erbil through August 21. Austrian Airlines, also a unit of Lufthansa, suspended all flights to Amman, Beirut, Erbil, Teheran and Tel Aviv up to and including August 21, according to a statement on its website.
