The new Swiss TravelClub frequent flyer programme commenced on January 1, 2003. Previously obtained miles remain valid and may be redeemed under existing conditions until end-February 2003.

Air travellers can obtain miles, not only with Swiss, but also with such companies as American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines, Finnair, Iberia and Qantas – and, probably, with additional well-known airlines with whom SWISS is currently holding discussions.

In addition, members of the Swiss TravelClub have almost daily opportunities to collect miles on the ground, amongst other means, by paying with all current credit cards. These partners include now include such important companies as Movenpick Hotels and Coop Schweiz.

The miles may be exchanged for free flight tickets, partner tickets and upgrades, as well as many other attractive rewards, such as for short stays in luxury hotels and now in the Europa Park Rust in Germany.

Miles adjusted upwards and downwards

The number of miles required for flight rewards will be adapted from March 1, 2003 onwards. Until that time, members have the opportunity to book flights under existing conditions. These tickets have a maximum validity of one calendar year (until end-February 2004).

The miles for Business Class have been adjusted upwards. Firstly, because the number of miles necessary for a free flight were lower than those of the competition and secondly because Swiss, with the introduction of its 2003 Summer timetable will be offering a considerably improved product on both short and long-haul routes.

This comes within the framework of the Destination Excellence, with its comprehensive programme for product and service innovations, about which information will continuously be available under

Experience shows that 95 per cent of the miles were used for European Economy Class tickets. The price of these tickets remains unchanged at 20,000 miles, considerably less than that demanded by the competition.

Swiss TravelClub Silver, Swiss TravelClub Gold and Swiss Circle

Scheduled flights with SWISS have a payoff in the form of Club miles. These are the measurement unit for access to a higher Club status and guarantee the appropriate privileges which one enjoys in Swiss Travel Club Silver and Swiss TravelClub Gold. The highest category is the Swiss Circle which may only be obtained on personal invitation from the Executive Management.

With its 1.75 million active members, Swiss TravelClub is the most important client loyalty programme in Switzerland.

Accumulated miles remain valid

Members of the SWISS frequent flyer programme which has hitherto until now retain their miles. They remain valid under the original conditions. The balance of miles will be automatically credited to the new mile account. The membership numbers remain unchanged. Only the prefix is altered – QG becomes LX. This means that the current membership cards may be used as before. The expedition of the new membership cards will take place between January and end-February.
